NFT probes typically feature a receiver coil in close proximity to the transmitter coil. This leverages the transmitter’s near zone—the zone where directly induced eddy currents are strong. NFT probes are best suited to detecting corrosion, erosion, pitting, and axial cracking on the inside diameter of carbon-steel tubing like those in fin-fan air coolers. NFT also displays good sensitivity to defects close to structures—tubesheets and support plates.
Our NFT bobbin probe bodies are sleeved in stainless steel for increased durability up to probe diameters of 20 mm (0.79 in), inclusively. From this diameter up, the probe’s body is sleeveless and made of advanced, light polymer.
