Eddyfi Technologies Introduces Ignite™, Fueling Faster Surface ECA Inspections with Confidence

From: Monday, October 12, 2026

A compact, open, automation-ready platform that removes barriers to advanced surface ECA and unlocks faster, more repeatable inspection at scale.

QUEBEC, Canada, October 12, 2026 — Eddyfi Technologies today announced the commercial release of Ignite™, a digital eddy current array (ECA) platform that integrates acquisition, analysis, and automation for surface inspections. Compact, lightweight, robot-ready, and open by design, Ignite helps teams standardize procedures, improve repeatability, and transition from manual inspections to automated production workflows.

Ignite brings advanced surface ECA into everyday inspection and production environments by combining compact instrumentation, intuitive software, open data, and Eddyfi’s probe and application expertise. The platform removes barriers to deployment at scale, whether customers are replacing conventional methods, standardizing inspection stations, increasing throughput, or integrating ECA into an automated production line.

“We wanted to remove the friction from adopting advanced ECA either in manual or automated environments. With Ignite, customers can begin with a straightforward workflow and scale from standardized inspection stations to full automation. The technology adapts to where they are today and where they want to go next.”

— Mathieu Bouchard, Product Manager, Eddyfi Technologies

At approximately 6 lbs (2.9 kg), Ignite is designed for fixed inspection stations, robotic cells, crawlers, and factory-deployable surface inspection systems. It supports eight probe inputs, upgradable 64-, 128-, and 256-channel configurations, and array probes with up to 128 sensors. Its 5 Hz to 7 MHz operating range supports a broad set of surface crack-detection and high-speed inspection applications.

From guided inspection to continuous automation

The Ignite platform is supported by two complementary software environments. Building on 15 years of Magnifi expertise in ECA inspection, Magnifi Ignite brings familiar 2D and 3D C-scan tools and proven manual inspection workflows into a redesigned interface, while adding new capabilities dedicated to automation, including one-button calibration and real-time processing. ECA probes can also benefit from the new QuickLink technology that stores setup files and procedures directly inside the probe, reducing configuration time and facilitating setup automation.

In automated environments, Magnifi Control provides a headless acquisition engine for unattended 24/7 operation. It communicates with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated systems, triggers acquisitions and calibration, processes signals and alarms in real time, and exports data in an open format for external analysis, 3D mapping and integration with quality or production systems.

“Ignite brings together our ECA technology, software, probes, automation capabilities, and application expertise in a platform that makes advanced surface inspection easier to deploy. That opens the door to applications and customers ready for a different way of inspecting.”

Built for repeatability, integration, and scale

Ignite is designed around four customer outcomes:

  • Standardize. Deliver consistent inspections across operators, locations, and shifts.
  • Simplify. Reduce setup, training, and workflow complexity through guided digital tools.
  • Automate. Scale from manual and semi-automated inspections to robotic and fully automated deployments.
  • Integrate. Connect inspection data and commands to existing production, quality, and analytics environments while maintaining access to the underlying data.

Key applications include the inspection of turbine disks, blades, and rotating components; composite overwrapped pressure vessels; orbital, ERW, friction-stir, and DSAW welds; surface crack detection on critical aerospace and manufacturing parts; crawler-based systems for the inspection of large surfaces; and high-speed rail inspection.

“The real opportunity with Ignite is what it enables: inspection that is increasingly connected to robotics, production systems, quality processes, and the customer’s data environment. We designed Ignite as an open foundation for that evolution, giving customers the flexibility to build the workflow that makes sense for them.”

— Frédéric Laprise, Vice-President, Innovation, Eddyfi Technologies

Igniting the next era of surface ECA

Ignite will be officially introduced on October 12, 2026, at the ASNT Annual Conference in Columbus, Ohio. First commercial deliveries are planned for December 2026. Learn more at https://eddyfi.com/en/product/ignite
