This pulse-echo method using Guided Waves means that the sound is transmitted along the axial length pipe finding corrosion and inspecting inaccessible areas not covered by conventional means. No other method can cover such a large surface area inspection in one test.

Guided Wave Pipe Corrosion Inspection System

Teletest Focus+™ is the first commercial product offering all the benefits of the conventional guided wave screening technology with the added feature of focusing sound energy into specific regions of pipes to measure the distribution of corrosion around the circumference at a specific distance. This proves especially valuable where pipes are inaccessible, enabling inspectors to make more informed decisions about the need for further action.

Focus+ Unit

The Focus+ unit has proven to be an extremely reliable and versatile product for operators. The computer-controlled unit is battery operated, wireless connection and equipped with an integrated pump for collar inflation. The device also contains GPS location and is simple to connect. Permanently wired in octants, the unit has the capability of focusing without the need for reconfiguration.

The Focus+ electronics offers more attributes over rival products on the market. Comprising of 24 individually controllable transmit channels and 24 receive channels with an additional onboard switching capability the Focus+ unit is able to utilise both multimode modules and the 5 ring torsional modules. This versatility allows the operator to use longitudinal and torsional wavemodes in the same inspection test or using the torsional modules collect guided wave data using different ring spacings without reconfiguring. This provides unrivalled data quality in terms of penetration and resolution.

Wavescan - Collection and Interpretation of Guided Waves Made Easy

WaveScan software incorporating focusing uniquely using two different methods compliments the Focus+™ hardware. The Wavescan software streamlines collection and interpretation of data with many features automated for speed and ease of use. Full data collection and interpretation at a given test location can be completed in a matter of minutes.

The software incorporates an automated frequency sweep facility enabling data to be collected at a range of frequencies, so that frequency can be optimized for the test pipe. In addition the Wavescan software incorporates the focusing and C-scan functions which gives circumferential distribution of defects around the pipe. It also sets the distance-amplitude correction curves automatically from the peaks of weld indications.

Another feature that greatly improves interpretation is the ability, with one mouse click, to switch between displays. The software also has an automated reporting facility, integrated with Microsoft Word, for improved productivity.

The WaveScan Software has the correct balance between efficient Guided Wave interpretation and reporting and advanced features when the inspection is more challenging.


The collars combine the latest carbon-Kevlar® composite material and a latch design for a one-piece tool with a light and easy-to-use integral bladder. Using the latest CAD software allowed to improve coupling between the guided wave transducers and the pipe surface, maximizing the signal's amplitude.

The collars incorporate Multi-Mode™ and 5-ring torsional modules generating torsional and longitudinal wave modes, offering operators the versatility to make more informed judgements. Light M mini-test collars and modules can inspect pipe with a size diameter of 48.3–114.3 mm (1.5–4.0 in). High-tech carbon fiber composite collars can, on the other hand, inspect pipe sizes 168.3–610.0 mm (6–24 in) in diameter and are designed to be daisy chained together to inspect pipe sizes up to 2 m (78 in) in diameter (two and three-collar configurations).

Anything to enable our customers to provide the best guided wave inspections to theirs. Finally, if there is a failure, we can respond quickly with backup equipment and fix the problem.

Training and Certification

Eddyfi Technologies offers CSWIP certified training in Guided Wave Testing to the industry recognised levels 1, 2, and 3. Examination eligibility requirements, examination format, and rules governing certificate validity and renewal comply with ISO 9712(1) and EN 473(2). This certification offers you the assurance that technicians are competent with the technique, which serves to give you the best available results for each inspection.
