POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electrical Engineer works within a multi-disciplinary engineering team under direction of the Engineering Manager and Senior Electrical Engineer and is responsible for the electrical design of new and customized equipment, maintaining and improving existing designs, including conceptual designs and drawings for proposals, meeting design criteria with considerations to costing and budget, testing and troubleshooting. Work also includes composition and maintenance of technical documentation, manuals, reports and production instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improve, optimize, and maintain a range of standard products to reduce costs and time to manufacture.
  • Follow up with the production and integration team in response to suggestions for manufacturing and assembly process improvements.
  • Under limited supervision, participate in the design of new products and customized systems, including design, documentation, assembly, testing and final system verification.
  • Prototype assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and design improvements for new and existing Eddyfi equipment;
  • Design duties including PCB schematics and layouts, connection diagrams and integrating sensors and modules
  • Contribute to conceptual design and drawings for proposals, meeting design criteria with consideration to costing
  • Preparing technical documentation
  • Completing testing and product evaluation to contribute to technical files required for product certification
  • Providing technical support to other departments
  • Assist Customer Service department and customers with technical support as needed
  • Support continuous improvement of departmental procedures and practices, and quality objectives regarding departmental and company procedures and practices

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited engineering program.
  • Four to Six years of electrical engineering design experience;
  • Awareness of North American and European design standards.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment;
  • Able to learn and work within a comprehensive framework of project management, enterprise resource and data management software.
  • Familiarity with robotic systems is desirable.
  • Familiarity with embedded microcontrollers and firmware design.
  • Skills and experience using Altium (or similar software).
  • Hands-on skills and experience in electrical assembly; familiarity with mechanical assembly skills is an asset.
