Guided Wave Testing (Long Range Ultrasonic) of Pipes and Pipelines

Eddyfi Technologies offers CSWIP certified training. Personnel with levels 1, 2, or 3 FOCUS+ technique training may be examined and, if successful, certified.

Details

Examination eligibility requirements, examination format, and rules governing certificate validity and renewal comply, as a minimum, with ISO 9712(1) and EN 473(2). This certification offers you the assurance that technicians are competent with the technique, which serves to give you the best available results for each inspection.

These syllabi are applicable to candidates seeking certification in accordance with the current version of Document CSWIP-ISO-NDT-11/93-R: ‘Requirements for the Certification of Personnel Engaged in Non-destructive Testing in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9712’.

Level 1

This course will span over 10 working days, totaling 80 hours of training exclusive of CSWIP examinations. This course includes a mixture of classroom-based and practical training sessions. The course content is as follows:

  • Introduction, terminology, and history of guided wave testing.
  • Physical principles of the method and associated knowledge.
  • Product knowledge and related capability of the method and derived techniques.
  • Equipment familiarisation.
  • Software familiarisation.
  • Data collection.
  • Reporting and evaluation.
  • Quality.

There is no prerequisite for this training course, however, knowledge of ultrasonic principles is recommended.

In addition, courses can also be conducted at client facilities Note: client facilities first have to be deemed adequate for training and have a suitable training sample.

Level 2

This course will span over 5 working days, totaling 40 hours of training exclusive of CSWIP examinations. This course is predominantly classroom-based but has some practical training sessions. The course content is as follows:

  • Introduction, terminology, and history of guided wave testing.
  • Physical principles of the method and associated knowledge.
  • Product knowledge and related capability of the method and derived techniques.
  • Software – advanced features.
  • Data collection – advanced features.
  • Written instructions.

Please note that if the candidate is attending the Level 2 training then they MUST have completed and passed the GWT inspector level 1 training course.
