This #InuktunInTheWild sighting features the Inuktun VT150 Vertical Crawler™ spotted at an LNG plant in Australia. An energy leader sought us out when they were looking for advanced technology that would enable them to undertake an extremely difficult inspection through intricate pipework at their site.

They needed to complete standard structural integrity assessment to comply with regulatory requirements for hazardous area plant zones. Our VT150 Vertical Crawler™ was enlisted with the support of Nexxis. A successful inspection was completed in short order through the difficult pipework, a feat not easily accomplished by any other available technology on the market.

Key inspections were performed with the VT150 Vertical Crawler™, particularly at the entrance point on 700mm OD (outside diameter) pipe on both trains 1 and 2. But the most impressive part of the inspection was where the entrance on train 2 was near a vessel. It involved navigating four 90-degree bends and two vertical sections where the pipe was 900mm OD. Amazing!

The efficiency of our solution and the timeliness enabled this industry leader to meet the requirements of the inspection and reduce their risk in the project as well as provide significant cost savings.

As part of the OnDemand Specialty Systems product line, the VT150 Vertical Crawler™ offers improvements to the heavy-duty structure with increased capabilities for unscheduled assessments, hazardous interventions, confined space tooling, emergency inspection and more. The adaptable technology is designed to mobilize any non-destructive testing tools. As demonstrated in this case, IM3™ (Inuktun Multi-Mission Modular) translates into significant time savings, cost efficiencies and risk mitigation for the customer and end user.
