When it comes to the dirty jobs, Eddyfi Technologies' VersaTrax™ crawlers don’t shy away. These tireless workhorses can be found regularly performing in-service municipal water and sewer line inspections to help ensure the smooth operation of the freshwater and plumbing services that we don’t give much thought… until there’s a problem.

It’s estimated that non-flushable products cost Canadian municipalities an additional 250 million dollars a year for maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of water infrastructure systems. Major players in water industry groups, utilities, and environmental non-governmental organizations have tried to demand regulations for what is flushable. Yet despite these efforts and amid enhanced protocols for sanitation, major city sewer systems are being impacted by the improper disposal of antiseptic wipes.

Eddyfi Technologies VersaTrax Inspection Robot for Remote Visual Inspection of Municipal Line

Fortunately, our robotic crawlers present the Beyond Current solution for inspecting municipal pipelines. VersaTrax pipe inspection vehicles are often employed for Remote Visual Inspection (RVI) in sewers, storm drains, and water lines to assess blockages and other obstacles as well as general pipeline integrity.

Take the VersaTrax P-Series (formerly known as the VersaTrax 320), for example. This advanced pipe inspection system provides detailed, easily interpretable video footage of real-time conditions, allowing asset owners to confidently make repair or replacement plans as needed. Unique to the industry, the tethered crawler can travel up to a kilometer, or 3,300 feet, in a single run. Its versatile form can easily enter manholes or access points as small as 205 millimeters, or 8 inches. When remote handling or retrieval is warranted, Eddyfi Technologies offers a manipulator tool to lend a hand. If the job calls for more data, our multi-mission modular technology can accommodate a range of sensors. Speak with one of our experts about your specific requirements.

How Inspection Robotics Play a Part in Sewer Line Integrity

Nobody could have predicted what occurred in 2020. Who knew Clorox wipes would be impossible to keep on grocery shelves and eventually lead to a major sewer line problem? We’re keen to offer part of the solution with our robotic crawlers for municipal pipeline inspection.

We’ll get back to you on the murder hornets.
