Heat Exchangers

Whether they are condensers, feed water heaters, fin-fan air coolers, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, or boilers, they all experience a mix of:

If left unchecked, these defects can result in leaks and lower performance. Heat exchangers can incorporate ferromagnetic tubing, which require inspection techniques other than eddy currents such as RFT, MFLNFT, NFA, and IRIS UT. Our lines of tubing probes designed for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry are rugged, reliable, and have short lead times. When they are combined with the Ectane® 2 test instrument and the Magnifi® acquisition and analysis software, our solutions are unbeatable. Pressure Vessels and Tanks

Eddyfi leverages its engineering expertise to bring to market standard, off-the-shelf probes for the most challenging pressure vessel-related inspections. Our solutions can detect various types of cracking, including stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and corrosion. Our surface probes are also designed for such demanding applications as detecting corrosion on the far surface of aluminum tank floors.

Carbon Steel Welds

Carbon steel welds are widely used in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry and are prone to cracking. Eddyfi array probes are perfectly suited to detecting and sizing surface-breaking cracks — even under coatings — while being fast, rugged, and easy to handle.

Corrosion Under Insulation

Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is one of the (petro)chemical processing industries worse problems, the cost associated to mitigating it astronomical. CUI is one of the most difficult processes to prevent because no matter the precautions taken, water invariably seeps into the insulation and begins its dirty work—sometimes unseen until process leakage occurs. Historical data shows that about 60% of pipe leaks are caused by CUI. The Eddyfi pulsed eddy current (PEC) solution Lyft® is specifically designed to address this issue.
